Word on the street is that Instagram (well, err, Facebook) is trying to dominate Snapchat..and we think it’s going to work wonders.

On Tuesday, Instagram announced the introduction of a new feature – Instagram Stories – a feature that enables users to create temporary images (stories) that disappear after 24 hours. Hmmm, where have we heard this before, eh? Oh that’s right, Snapchat!

Is it Snapchat 2.0? Maybe. But we’re not knocking it back and here’s why brands (that’s YOU) need to take advantage of this new feature on Instagram:

  • Instagram still dominates and has a larger user base compared to Snapchat (check out the Australian social media statistics for July –  point proven)
  • Chances are your brand still has a larger user base on Instagram v Snapchat (let’s be honest, now)
  • Snapchat (while we freaken love it) is still a little clunky with regards to growing a following due to its limited capabilities of sharing content and of course, it’s user base
  • You can capitalise on this style of content sharing due to all of the above

The beauty of it? Your Snapchat content strategy can be replicated onto Instagram, and if you know us and know us well, it’s not often we can say that a content strategy (with a few tweaks) can quite easily be transferrable across platforms.
