It’s been a week of new features popping up on social media channels, with Facebook rolling out reactions and now Instagram introducing video views on all video posts.
With the increase of videos being published, Instagram felt it necessary to include this metric as they believe video views are the best measure of viewer intent.
So, what does this mean for brands?
This is a clear indication that video content is on the rise, the importance of providing social media users a mix of thoughtful, engaging content is imperative to remain competitive. Being able to view top line video views metrics means that you’ll be able to trace the success of video content, based on views, not just likes, which can often be skewed in relation the amount of likes vs amount of views. Once upon a time you may have posted a video and received 10 likes, unwillingly knowing that the video has been viewed 200 times. Thanks Instagram!
Don’t be boring! Play with different types of video content to keep users engaged. We LOVE stop motion!
